Garfield County School District 16
Garfield County School District No. 16 believes in educational equity for all of our students. We can achieve this through competency-based personalized learning. We are located in the Colorado River Valley where the mountains begin to turn to mesas. We serve approximately 1,200 students from the communities of Parachute and Battlement Mesa. Students benefit from our K-8 Expeditionary Learning program and Advanced Placement for ALL at the high school level. We operate on a four-day week and teachers receive professional development two days a month. We are partnered with Marzano Academies and our teachers are trained in competency-based personalized education. Teachers benefit from a highly competitive salary schedule for the region and the opportunity for paid Master’s Degrees.
Nearly every western outdoor pursuit is less than a two hour drive of Parachute - most being much closer. These include world class rock climbing, skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, camping, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, river rafting, kayaking, and golfing. We are located forty-five minutes from Colorado wine country and the city of Grand Junction, two hours from Moab, three hours from Denver, and five hours from Salt Lake City. https://tinyurl.com/9vs2ubp8
